About 2mm High Density Foam Acoustic Underlay (5 Star AAAC Rating)
The 2mm high density foam underlay offers acoustic certifications achieving up to 5 stars on the AAAC test, making them a common choice for apartments and units where strata management may require noise reduction when installing flooring.
The following are also noted:
- All tests were undertaken with the existing ceiling/floor system consisting of between 200mm thick concrete sub-base with approximately 80~150 mm suspended ceiling cavity and one layer of 13 mm thick plasterboard ceiling.
- The tested flooring systems as listed in Table 2 (Test 01-07) have met both the BCA 2019 minimum requirement (LnT,w ≤ 62) and the AAAC Star rating of 5 for impact noise insulation.
- The lower the L’nT,w rating the better the impact insulation.
- The relation between Field Impact Insulation Class (FIIC) and Impact Insulation Class (IIC) can be described by the formula FIIC + 5 ≈ IIC.
- The higher the IIC and FIIC the better the impact insulation.
Acoustic testing based on previous testing, only on-site testing with the entire flooring system is recommended and can guarantee actual performance.
