Learn More About Floor Finishing Trims
Flooring Finishing Trims
Trims provide room for floor expansion and contraction and are vital to ensuring the longevity of your floor. All our aluminium trims are 2700mm long, completely waterproof, and mould / rust resistant.
We have designed this section with pre-colour matched trims in mind. As Australia’s largest flooring trims stockist, we have over 20 colours available to help you to find a close match to finish your floor. When in doubt, you can also lean back on the classic anodised colours of Silver or Champagne.
Use Type 1: Joining Two Floors
Option 1: End Border Trim
Commonly used when the floor heights are similar to each other - this is a less obvious finish.

Option 2: Universal Cover
Used to bridge two floor heights of the same level or of slight unevenness, up to 12mm height variation. It’s commonly used to meet other floors and tiles.

Option 3: Reducer Ramp
Used to bridge two floors of signficant uneveness and can bridge approximately 12 - 40mm in uneveness, and even greater variances if one side is direct fixed to the higher floor covering and the base kit is not used. Choose the correct base kit thickness by measuring the middle height from the substrate e.g. from substrate the floor is 12mm and other floor is 24mm, then choose a kit of 18mm thickness.

Option 4: H Trim (Flat)
A smaller profile (less obvious) trim to bridge the same floor of same thickness when expansion gaps are required. Typically used under doorways and when breaking up floors for expansion gaps.

Use Type 2: Meeting Vertical Surfaces
Option 1: End Border Trim
The same border trim as above can also be used to meet vertical surfaces e.g. sliding doors, tile angles, thresholds etc. This is the recommended trim, as it allows for the best expansion and contraction. The base kit is glued to the substrate first and the connector strip is slid into the top piece before it is pressed into the base.
Option 2: L Angles
L angles serve a similar purpose to End Border Trims, but are single piece finish that can be glued to the vertical surface e.g. (wall) or floor. It can also be used as edge capping for steps or other protruding areas of the floor.
It's also popular for tight fitting areas such as under dishwasher areas or areas where an end trim is not easily installed.

Small L Angle - designed for flooring and underlay 9mm or thinner e.g. 9mm, 8mm, 7mm, 6mm hybrid. | Large L Angle - for flooring and underlay 10mm and thicker e.g. 8mm laminate + 2mm underlay = 10mm, or 12mm laminate, 14mm engineered timber etc. | Example of L angles glued to steps or when meeting vertical surfaces. Note: Note all floors are suitable with glue-down L angles. |
