Flat Cover Trims

Our 2700mm long timber-design aluminium Flat Cover Trim is an H-shaped profile that straddles both floors and sits flush across the join. It is the tidiest finish when your flooring meets another floor at the same height, and the least obvious of all our trims.

Commonly used in doorways between two rooms, or where flooring meets tile that has been laid to the same level.

How to Order Flat Cover Trims:

1. Calculate Lengths Required - measure up your total metres required and divide by 2.7m and round upwards to the nearest length.
2. Choose the Correct Colour - options include:
   1. Choosing from the photo in the gallery above - we try and make digital photos accurate, but variations do occur between devices / screens.
   2. Ordering a $5 sample of the trim itself in a few colours to find the closest match (scroll to bottom for details).
   3. If you are ordering one of our floors, we have pre-matched the trims for you already when you select "Add Accessories" on the flooring page.
3. Choose the Correct Thickness - add up the total thickness of the floor + underlay (if applicable). The base kit is different for each floor e.g. a 6.5mm hybrid has a total thickness of 6.5mm and would use the 6mm - 7mm Base Kit, and a 14mm Engineered Oak with 3mm Rubber Underlay would have a total thickness of 17mm and use the 17mm - 21mm Base Kit. If your build-up falls outside these ranges, choose Cover Only and adhesive-fix it instead.

How to Install Flat Cover Trims

1. Adhere the Base to the subfloor along the join using our Fast-Grab MS Adhesive - a strong and flexible construction adhesive that can be applied with an Adhesive Gun.
2. Install the flooring - according to the flooring instructions, and ensure an expansion gap e.g. 10mm is left either side.
3. Install the Top Trim - slide the top strip into the cover trim and press the cover into the base, covering the flooring on both sides.

Our trims are designed for use in domestic and light commercial applications. It is not recommended in any area that will have stock trolleys or high point loads rolling over the trim.

Not the Right Profile?

If your two floors sit at slightly different heights, a Universal Cover Trim is more forgiving. If there is a real step down to tile, carpet or concrete, use a Ramp Trim. If your floor simply stops at an edge, see our End Border Trims.

Why Are Trims Important to Flooring?

Trims provide room for floor expansion and contraction and are vital to ensuring the longevity of your floor. Without the correct trims, flooring may buckle, warp or "come upwards" when there is insufficient room for the boards to move. It can also cause damage to the joints and locking systems from too much pressure. All our aluminium trims are 2700mm long, completely waterproof, and mould / rust resistant.

For all of our flooring products, we have pre-selected the best matching trim colours on each product page. We have the biggest aluminium colour range in Australia, with over 20 colours, but in many instances we can only get to close-match, not exact match.

Samples

We can post you a sample of the actual trim you're after, in the colour you want, so you can see the profile and the finish before you commit. Each sample is $5 and around 10 - 15cm long, and we can include the base kit at no extra charge if you'd like to see how the two fit together.
