FW Self Levelling Compound is a premium polymer-based floor levelling compound that can be applied to level uneven construction substrates. It is designed to smoothen off concrete and tile based substrates to prepare for timber, laminate, bamboo, vinyl, carpet and other floor coverings.

  • Thickness: 3-50mm (in a single pour - one of the best formulations in Australia)
  • Mixing Ratio: 4.4 - 5L
  • Working Time: 20 Minutes
  • Walking Time: 2 Hours
  • Strength (28 Days): 30Mpa Compressive

Our self levelling compound is of the highest quality and comparable to expensive leading brands - it's super smooth, flows quickly and dries quickly.

(Note: Previous version was 25MPA strength and 3 - 20mm thickness. The new formulation from the manufacturer can achieve between 1.5mm - 50mm thickness, but we recommend a minimum thickness of 3mm for greater strength)

How many bags do I need?

Think of it as liquid once mixed with water and it will flow over the area you need to cover. Each 20kg bag if poured over 1sqm will have an average thickness of 12.25mm. For example, a common average thickness of 5mm will result in a coverage of 2.45sqm.

If you need to make up for more uneveness in the subfloor, then you will need more bags to cover the dip. Most commonly, we see one bag covering around 2sqm. However, always purchase more than required, as levelling has to be completed in one go and not over two attempts.

Note: Please use with matching FW Multi-Functional Primer.

About our Self Leveller

A high-strength self levelling compound to smooth off uneven construction substrates, designed for concrete substrates and stable timber-based substrates. It has exceptional cracking resistance with compressive strength of 30MPa and tensile bending strength of 5MPa.

It is suitable for residential and light commercial areas, serving as a strong substrate for timber, parquetry, resilient, vinyl, linoleum, carpet and tile floor materials are applied to the surface.

Usage Areas

It is designed for most fixed and stable substrates, including:

  • Concrete, screed, existing levelling compounds, compressed fibre cement.
  • Ceramic tiles, terrazzo, quarry
  • Over radiant floor heating systems
  • New and existing strip timber, particleboard, plywood (must be stable and not exhibit movement - minimum of 8mm thickness recommended)
  • Note:
Not suitable over floating floors, resilient floor coverings and direct stick timber flooring.

Subfloor Preparation

The subfloor must be dry, firm, free from contaminants e.g. oil, hollowing, cracks, sand, dust, grease, adhesives, levelling cement, wax and other substances which could prevent adhesion. Any weakness or potential future movement must be removed, such as through brushing, abrasion, grinding or shot-blasting. Thoroughly vacuum to remove loose material and dust.

For timber or particleboards, the substrate should be completely fixed, stable and there should be no movement between boards. Loose boards need to be re-screwed or re-nailed and firmly fixed. If required, polyurethane joint sealant or silicone should be applied.

The subfloor must be thoroughly primed with our matching Primer.

Application of Levelling Compound

  • Put 4.4 - 4.8L of cold clean water into a clean container. Sprinkle in the 20kg bag whilst stirring briskly and mix to a thick-fluid. Lump-free consistency. Use a drill or mixer fitted with a mixing paddle. Do not mix too thinly. For best flow ability of a product, mix for 3 minutes.
  • Pour the mixture on the area to be applied, spread the material uniformly to required thickness using a toothed rake. Remove the air bubbles with a spiked roller.
  • Drying and suitable laying time at 20°C is approximately 24 hours. Abrading using 40 - 60 grift sanding paper improves both the surface quality and the absorbency. Poor air-flow and low temperatures will slow down drying times.

Important Notes

  • Minimum shelf-life is 6 months in original packaging and in dry storage conditions. Tightly seal opened packaging and use the contents as quickly as possible.
  • Best applied at air temperature between 18 - 25°C, substrate temperature above 15°C and relative humidity below 75%. Low temperatures and high humidity delays setting, drying and readiness for covering. High temperatures shorten the working time, so the coolest possible mixing water during should be used during summer.
  • The product should be protected agains frost and direct light during transportation, storage and application. Application temperature should not be lower than 5°C.
