Choose the Correct Adhesive for Your Application

Timber Flooring

Solid Timber and Engineered Timber flooring both require adhesives for installation (with the exception of click-based floating floors).

Option 1: Direct-Stick or Adhesive Fixed Installation

Where glue is completely troweled across the floor and the floorboard is pressed into. You will use our Timber Adhesive Drums. Manufactured by one of the world's largest adhesive manufacturers, we use the MS adhesive formulation - the newest generation of healthy and solvent-free adhesives.

Coverage per 15KG drum:

  • 3 - 4mm Trowel (recommended for 14 - 15mm engineered timber): 15 - 18sqm
  • 5 - 6mm Trowel (recommended for solid timber): 8 - 10sqm

Option 2: PVA Glue for Floating Installation

PVA wood glue is applied to the T&G of engineered timber floors and the boards are glued to each other, but not the substrate. This is a floating installation and is installed over underlay.

Vinyl & Rubber Flooring

Resilient floor coverings (vinyl plank, vinyl sheet, rubber) are glued to the subfloor with a specialist Universal 2000 Adhesive. This glue is designed to be strong and provide a long working time, making it adjustable and easier for professionals or DIYers.

Typical Coverage with a 1.6 - 1.8mm Vinyl Trowel:

  • 5KG Drum: 18 - 20sqm
  • 15KG Drum: 50 - 60sqm

Stair Steps

All stair cases with timber, laminate, hybrid, bamboo, rubber or other hard floor coverings should use our MS Adhesive Sausage and applied with a Sausage Gun. It should be applied thoroughly in a zig-zag fashion with minimum 40% coverage of the floorboards, enabling a hard but elastic bond.

Coverage per 600ml Sausage: 3 Steps (Tread, Rise & Stair Nose) of 1m length on average. Most stair cases if 16 - 18 steps require 6 sausages.

For resilient floors and vinyl stair cases, use the Universal 2000 Adhesive.

Trim Base Kits

All trim base kits (when glued to the substrate) or adhesive fixed trims should use MS Adhesive Sausage or the Fast-Grab MS Adhesive Sausage and applied with a Sausage Gun. The Fast-Grab one costs $2 more per sausage but "sets" from 1 hour whereas the standard MS Adhesive "sets" in around 3 hours - you decide!
